Durante muitos anos o terreno onde vai nascer esta nova zona residencial no centro da cidade de Loulé serviu como parque para estacionamento automóvel, mas o local tem uma herança de peso pelo facto de ter sido morada do eminente geólogo francês Charles Bonnet, que no século XIX ali residiu, plantou um pequeno jardim botânico, e criou um herbário com a flora algarvia, enquanto se dedicava ao estudo do cobre na freguesia de Alte. Em sua homenagem, o novo conjunto de apartamentos irá ter o nome: “Charles Bonnet Residence”, e a sua imagem de marca será uma folha de palmeira anã que representa uma tradição portuguesa secular, presente em Loulé através do artesanato da empreita em palma.
No desenvolvimento deste projeto houve sempre preocupação com a funcionalidade e clareza dos espaços, adaptados a um estilo de vida atual, tendo como objetivo o conforto e a harmonia no seu conjunto, articulado com os espaços exteriores de forma a facilitar a vida no meio urbano promovendo a dinâmica do movimento e a redução do sedentarismo associada à residência e eventual teletrabalho, com introdução de zonas de lazer e desporto no logradouro comum.
A ideia principal para os novos edifícios a construir num espaço vazio com alguma dimensão no limite sul do núcleo urbano, muito próximo do futuro parque urbano e agrícola da cidade de Loulé, assenta na grande preocupação com o bem-estar dos futuros residentes, e também dos transeuntes que irão conviver com as novas construções do “quarteirão” junto à passagem pela Rua Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco no dia-a-dia da cidade.
Para bem de todos, será “oferecida” à população uma rede pedonal muito dinâmica com passeios de piso confortável com ligação a uma moderna e bem desenhada zona ajardinada acessível a todos, incorporando bancos para repouso e zonas adequadas para estacionamento de bicicletas e automóveis.
Evoluir bem, respeitando o ambiente e favorecendo a comunidade é a solução para uma cidade inteligente.

For years, the plot where this new housing estate is to be built, in the centre of Loulé, has been used as a car park, but the site has a major legacy, as it was once the home of the eminent French geolo- gist Charles Bonnet. Charles Bonnet lived there in the 19th century, planted a small botanical gar- den and created an herbarium of Algarve flora, while studying copper in the parish of Alte. As a tribute to him, the new set of flats will be called “Charles Bonnet Residence”, and its brand image will be a dwarf palm leaf, thus representing a secular Portuguese tradition, found in Loulé, the handicraft of Empreita de Palma (it consists of weaving strips of dwarf palm leaf into long “ribbons”).
The development of this project was always con- cerned with the functioning and clearness of the spaces, adapted to a current lifestyle, and aiming at comfort and harmony as a whole, in articula- tion with the outer spaces. This enables life in the urban environment, promotes dynamic move- ment and reduces the sedentary lifestyle asso- ciated with residence and eventual teleworking. Therefore, leisure and sports areas were settled in the communal patio.
The main idea for the new buildings under cons- truction, in an empty space of some scale on the southern edge of the urban nucleus, very close to the future urban and agricultural park of Loulé, is based on the great concern for the well-being of future residents, and also of the passers-by, who will, on a daily basis, contact with the new constructions of the “block”, next to the crossing through Rua Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco.
For the benefit of everyone, the population will be “offered” a very dynamic pedestrian network of comfortable pavements, connected to a modern, accessible, and well-designed landscaped area with benches for resting, and suitable areas for parking bicycles and cars.
EEvolving well, respecting the environment and favouring the community is the solution for an intelligent city.
